Not your typical buffet

This is an exceptional buffet with an array of beautiful salads, awesome selection of sushi--not just the california rolls you see elsewhere. The hot food items are great as well--especailly the tempura shrimp, the teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken. Go there hungry and enjoy!
One of The Best in Corpus

I would rate Ichiban as one of the best overall restaurants in Corpus Christi based on value, cleanliness, service, and variety. Since moving here last year (about the time they opened), my family and I have frequented Ichiban (40+ visits) and will continue to do so in the future. Many people hear the word "buffet" and immediately turn away. I'm here to tell you this is not your ordinary buffet. They have a wide array of food available, to include sashimi (fish only), nigiri (fish with rice), an assortment of rolls, several salads, soups, fruit, kalbi beef, ribs, boiled shrimp, snow crab legs, fried shrimp, chicken tenders, fried scallops, assorted tempura, crab cakes, assorted veggies, edamame, raw oysters, shumai, potstickers, teriyaki beef, teriyaki chicken, frog legs, bacon-wrapped scallops, coconut shrimp, calamari, teriyaki salmon, fried rice, white rice, noodles, and assorted desserts, depending on the day and whether it's lunch or dinner. They also provide made to order steak, seafood, chicken, and sushi hand rolls, which many people don't know about and have several types of ice cream in addition to their desserts; you just have to ask. For beverages, they have assorted drinks, to include beer and wine, available. To compare, I've been to Todai Japanese Seafood Buffets in Houston, Plano (when it was open), Las Vegas, and Honolulu - I can honestly say Ichiban holds it's own against these larger Japanese seafood buffets. There may be less variety at Ichiban, but the overall quality of food is comparable...for 1/2 the price. If you know of anywhere else in Corpus where you can load up multiple plates of quality sushi for under $15, please let me know. For Corpus, this is definitely a treat. Not to mention you can eat much healthier than across the street, where your vegetables are soaked in butter and you have countless "fatten-you-up" food choices.
