Acting as a major migratory route, Padre Island National Seashore hosts temporary populations of 380 species of birds including brown pelicans, peregrine falcons, piping plowers and great blue herons. The park holds the longest undeveloped area of barrier island in the world and plays an important role in protecting and conserving a variety of sea turtle species who live and breed on and around the beaches. In addition enjoying to the scenic, unspoiled landscape, visitors can take part in a number of recreational opportunities including camping, swimming, fishing, stargazing and hiking that are offered on the northern edge of the park. Extending 113 miles along the Texas Golf Coast, the park and visitor center are centered southeast of Corpus Christi on North Padre Island.
Park open daily year round. Visitor center open Winter: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Summer: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Entry fee: Vehicles $10; Individuals $5. Camping: $8 per day.
